Your Journey at Wellness Kliniek

Your Journey at Wellness Kliniek

Decided On Having Cosmetic Surgery? Find out here all you need to know about your surgery day and how to prepare for cosmetic surgery.

People who smoke have a higher risk of complications. Plastic surgeons recommend quitting smoking at least 4 weeks before and after your surgery.

  • Take multivitamins: Start taking multivitamins twice daily to improve your general health once you have scheduled your surgery. Start 2 weeks before surgery and continue after surgery until you stop taking pain medication.
  • Take vitamin C: Start taking Vitamin C twice daily to promote healing.
  • Do not take Aspirin or Ibuprofen: Stop taking medications containing aspirin or ibuprofen. These drugs are blood-thinning and can cause unwanted bleeding problems during and after surgery.

  • Confirm surgery time: We will email you and call you to confirm the time a few days before your surgery.
  • Cleansing: The night before surgery, shower and wash the surgical areas with soap.
  • Stop eating and drinking: Do not eat or drink anything after midnight. This includes water.

  • Wear glasses instead of contact lenses
  • Clothing: Wear comfortable clothes such as a tracksuit and leave your jewelry at home
  • No makeup: Please do not wear moisturizers, creams, lotions, makeup or nail varnish
  • Remove all piercings: if possible.

  • Bring all medication you are taking, or have recently taken, with you to the Wellness Kliniek
  • Proof of identity: passport or identity card
  • Filled in medical questionnaire
  • Details of your health insurer and/or European health insurance card.

Important! Your companion

  • It is important that when you check-in, you are accompanied by a responsible adult (minimum age 18). If not, the operation cannot be performed and you will be charged cancellation costs.
  • Make sure your companion comes to collect you. You cannot drive yourself home after the procedure.
  • You must spend the first 24 hours after you arrive home with a responsible adult.

Your arrival on the day of your surgery

On the day of your surgery, the surgeon and our staff will be fully prepared for your arrival.

We are here to support you and will take good care of you!

Secretary: You check-in at the confirmed time accompanied by your companion. The secretary will welcome you and verify your dossier:

  • Medical questionnaire
  • Treatment agreement
  • Payment
  • Bandages, if necessary

You will be given an ID bracelet.

Nurse: Your ward nurse will accompany you to your room and will start the preoperative preparations. Once completed, your surgery nurse will accompany you to the operating theater where your surgeon will be waiting for you.

Surgeon: You will see your surgeon in the operating theater before the procedure. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Anaesthetist: The anaesthetist will ask you questions about the condition of your health and any medication you are taking. He will discuss the anaesthetic you will be given during the operation and the related medication.

After Surgery

When the surgery is completed the anaesthetist will wake you from your sedation. You will feel drowsy at first. You will be transferred from the operating theater to the recovery area. There you are kept under strict supervision of our medical staff.

After the initial recovery, you will be taken to your room where you can sleep off the remaining effects of the anaesthesia. The ward nurses will routinely monitor you as you start to recover. The nurses are also there to pamper you. They will offer you beverages and a light snack to help you with the recovery.

Once you are ready to leave, and the surgeon has authorized your discharge, your nurse will explain the aftercare procedures and will guide you to your car.

Most patients choose to spend one night in a hotel in the vicinity of Wellness Kliniek, before setting on to a long journey home.

Optimizing your recovery

You must be supervised by a responsible adult during the first 24 hours after surgery. So bring a friend or family member!

We recommend you to stay in the vicinity of the clinic for a day or more. This is especially appropriate for patients from out of town and for patients having multiple procedures.

Your surgeon will advise you in this regard. Make sure you take some time off work and heavy duties the first few days following the surgery.

You may want to organise some help to look after the children and do household chores.
